Working with a staffing agency is one of the fastest ways to find local work — and it’s always free for job seekers. Here’s what to expect, from your first call to your first paycheck.

How it works

You apply online or at your local Lingo branch, meet a recruiter who learns your skills and availability, and get matched to openings that fit. Many assignments start within days, and a lot of temporary and temp-to-hire roles turn into permanent jobs.

What to bring

Valid ID for work eligibility, plus any certifications your trade requires (for example, a forklift certification). Your branch will tell you anything else a specific role needs before you start.

Job seeker FAQ

Does it cost anything to work with a staffing agency?

No. Applying, getting placed, and working through Lingo is always free for job seekers. A legitimate staffing agency never charges you a fee.

Will I be drug tested or background checked?

It depends on the role and the employer. Some assignments require a drug screen, a background check, or specific safety certifications; others don’t. Your recruiter tells you exactly what a given job requires before you start, so there are no surprises.

How quickly can I start working?

Often within days. Once you’re registered and matched to a fitting opening, your branch can get you started as soon as the role is ready.

How and when do I get paid?

Weekly, by direct deposit or pay card, for as long as you’re on assignment.

Can a temporary job become permanent?

Yes. Many temporary and temp-to-hire roles convert to permanent positions. Tell your recruiter you’re open to temp-to-hire or direct placement, and treat the assignment like an audition — because it often is.

What kinds of jobs can I find?

Warehouse, production, manufacturing, forklift, assembly, and clerical or administrative roles across our branch markets.
